What Is Fentanyl?

Fentanyl, which is also referred to as Duragesic, is a strong opioid pain reliever and is highly concentrated.

Fentanyl acts on particular opiate receptors in the spinal cord and the brain. It is these receptors that reduce the feelings of pain in the affected area of the body. Fentanyl is administered for the treatment of moderate or severe pain which cannot be handled by other available methods. It acts on certain receptors in the spinal cord and the brain to reduce the pain and minimize the psychological reaction to pain.
